Identify Trojan folders!
Dec 01, 2008
In this quick tip I am going to tell you an important tip about Trojans.
Since we have two types of icons, files and folders, the users never anticipate to have an executable file when they click on an icon that appears like a folder. But some Trojans appears like the folders. So, although the users click on these types of icons to see the content, but a program runs and this program will be a Trojan on your computer that will infect your computer. What a disaster!
Well, although you can right click on every folders to see the type of folders, but it’s really boring to do.
I suggest another way to identify this type of Trojan files. Since folders have no extensions, you should be able to file extensions to be able to identify Trojan files.
Just follow these steps:
-
Open My computer
-
On the menu bar click Tools -> Folder Options…
-
On view tab under Advanced settings category, find Hide extensions for known file types and leave it unchecked.
Well, now you are able to see every files extensions. Well, if you see a folder icon that has an .exe extension, it would be a Trojan!
Compare:
*) This type of Trojans with invisible extension: (As you see, there is no difference for view of this Trojan and other folders)

*) This type of Trojans with visible extensions:

Good Luck!
